Linnea W. Rhodes

a personal approach to realism

Linnea W. Rhodes studied art at Douglass College where she specialized in printmaking. She later turned to oils and has been working in her preferred medium, watercolored pen and inks, since 2006. Rhodes begins with an ink sketch and then adds color for depth and dimension. “I love to work with detail and enhanced colors. If someone says ‘your work reminds me of how I felt when I was there’ I know I have been successful.”

Rhodes has received numerous awards for her work. She has participated in 20 solo shows in New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey and in over 130 group shows at more than 40 venues. Her ties with Fire Island began when she rented there in the mid 1960’s.  She currently owns 2 houses in Davis Park, and she sells prints and cards of her local scenes at the post office.
